In today’s Pillar L session of our Faith-Filled & Flourishing Christian life coaching program, we focused on identifying and overcoming limiting beliefs that keep midlife Christian women stuck.

This powerful Bible-based discussion helped us bring those hidden barriers into the light of God’s truth and take them captive to Christ. There’s nothing like starting in the presence of our loving Father who sees every thought and every challenge we face. We also talked about how to best structure our time as we work through each of the F.L.O.U.R.I.S.H. pillars—because real transformation in Christian life coaching happens with both grace and intentional focus.

Real Talk on Family Dynamics and Parenting

One of the most relatable parts was Heidi sharing about helping her 13-year-old son discover his talents. For many women in midlife, parenting and generational differences can trigger limiting beliefs like “I’m not doing this right” or “My family will never change.”

Identifying and Challenging Limiting Beliefs

This was the heart of Pillar L. We named common lies that hold midlife Christian women back:

  • “I’m too old to volunteer with young people.”

  • “I’ve made too many mistakes.”

  • “Trust is too risky after what I’ve been through.”

Biblical Truth to Replace the Lies

The good news is that Christian life coaching rooted in Scripture equips us with powerful tools to renew our minds:

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV)

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2 NIV)

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8 NIV)

We practiced bringing limiting beliefs captive to Christ and replacing them with God’s promises.

Next Steps for Your Spiritual Growth

  1. Journal It: Use your F.L.O.U.R.I.S.H. workbook or a notebook. Identify one limiting belief and ask: Where did this come from? What does God’s Word say instead?
    - When do you first remember believing this thought about yourself or about God?
    - How has this limiting belief protected you or served you in the past? - How has carrying this belief impacted your faith, relationships, or dreams recently?

  2. Speak Truth: Rewrite it as a faith-filled declaration aligned with your identity in Christ.

  3. Talk It Out: Have an honest conversation with a family member or trusted sister in Christ.

  4. Pray It Through: Invite the Holy Spirit to highlight lies and fill your mind with His truth.
